Gary’s Team Return to Form
Black Country Saddles sponsored international rider Gary Foggon updates us on his winter schedule and where he is at with two of his homebred event horses.
Gary is well-known for producing talented young event and dressage horses, when he is not competing he is busy training riders in both disciplines, which is something he enjoys very much.
As winter looms he has been busy aiming for Dressage Winter Championships qualification with his two main dressage horses.
Who’s A Boozer, also known as Charlie is a six-year-old homebred gelding owned by Mark Caley and is a part qualified for the Novice Freestyle to Music and already has his ticket to the Novice Gold class at the Winter Regional Finals.
Gypsy Fortune who is also known as Pikey is another of Gary’s homebred horses, she is an elegant seven-year-old mare owned by Gary himself. Pikey is bred out of Gary’s former eventing mare, Bonny Bank Jay by the well-known stallion Grafenstolz. He is aiming to gain her qualifications at both Elementary and Medium level.
Said Gary: “Both horses feel on exceptional form and have been out a couple of times this season both gaining scores well in excess of 70%+ and with eight back to back wins.”
Having given both horses an extra year to mature and concentrate on their training Gary is now starting to feel the benefits. Charlie’s confidence has grown enormously and gives Gary a very mature and professional ride between the boards. Pikey has really developed lots of expression and cadence.
“Both horses are on mega form at the moment so this year they could really shine at the regionals,” he added.
“There is something very special and exciting about riding homebred horses, I’m very proud of how much they have developed over the last year and I’m really looking forward to this year’s regionals.”
